Extremetuxracer beta compiles perfectly fine with GCC 4.4 now, except a few warnings. It was a problem with the computer I worked on.
All is well, thank you for the replies. :)

Errm, sorry for being away and not commenting anything.. I had some problems running the Vista version. Now that I've got Karmic, I'm downloading it.

By the way, when I try to add Woody's PPA to the Software Sources, it fails. I just got that says that not all the archive indexes could be downloaded/retrieved. Any idea why? Seems I'll have to compile it myself then.. Which I'm not good at :P

Okay, the compiling went easily, thanks to the wiki :D

I clearly remember that the vista version had different animals/characters you could play as.. I don't see this feature in the Linux version :S And are the traces in the snow from my previous run supposed to be there when I play again on the same track?

In my opinion, this game is one of the most awesome Linux games out there though! :)

Thanks for the encouragement. The characters should be there in the linux version too. Are you sure you compiled the right code? Try using the svn version... And yes, the tracks are supposed to be there.
