What is Extreme Tux Racer?

A 3D racing game starring Tux, the Linux penguin. The object is to slide down an icy slope as quickly as possible, while catching as many herring as you can.

So is this the same as Tux Racer or Planet Penguin Racer? Why the new name?

Extreme TuxRacer is based on the PPRacer code, which in turn was based on Tux Racer. We started this project to continue development of this classic game, because both previous projects have ceased to be actively developed. We had to choose a new name because we don't have permission from either of the original developers to use the old names.

How can I help?

We need artwork, music, and code, as well as great ideas to improve the game. We also need beta testers and people who can package Extreme Tux Racer for different distributions. Join the forums and let us know how you're interested in helping.
