Here is a page where you can see which things still have to be done in a release. If you want to take one one of the tasks here, place a post in our forum.

[edit] Release 0.35

Release in September, and try to get it into the Universe for Ubuntu Gutsy. The primary goal would be to make the transition to the new development team: getting people to make packages for different distros, getting the packages into the distro "Universes", etc. I would like to add some updated and cleaner graphics, which would show end-users we are doing something. An additional cup (besides Herring Run) would be really cool, and not too hard. We should hold back on making major code changes for the first release. It would be really bad to have our first release add a bunch of new features, but be full of bugs (like SuperTuxKart was right after it was forked).

[edit] Release 0.4

The tentative release date for version 0.4 is November 22. This list may be subject to change.

  • I think all this is far to much, really cleaning up the code is what we need to do, and with this large codebase it will take a while, and we definitely won't be able to code a realtime 3d level designer by November, as well as all the other things that have been suggested. - Hamish

Please discuss this here: Talk:Milestone

  • Before we do any of this, the code must be cleaned up!

Major changes:

  • Implement and perfect the Multiplayer from PPracer 0.5 alpha.
  • Make a realtime 3D level designer (this is gonna be tough)-- Release this as a separate program, and keep the main focus on gameplay
  • Replacement Tux model and implement other characters

Minor changes:

  • Adding some sound effects to Give Tux some more character:
    • When hitting a tree hard: "Ouch!"
    • Making a hard landing after a jump: "Oof!"
    • Starting a level: "Cowabunga!"
    • When speed > 200 km/h: "Wow! That's fast!" (And other sounds or text messages) or maybe "Wieee!"
    • etc.
  • Snow falling from the sky
  • Add an automatic course installer in the principal menu.
  • Ability to switch between mph and km/h
  • New tree models
  • New tux-tree collision handling. Instead of stopping in midair, different things should happen. (e.g. if he's going really fast, the tree breaks, and he slows down, but doesn't stop)
